CPA Rules (Pool)

All pool games at Shooterville follow the official standards set by the
Canadian Poolplayers Association (CPA).

These rules are used for both casual competitive play and organized matches to ensure fairness and consistency.

Game Formats

  • 8-Ball (most common league format)
  • 9-Ball
  • Other formats may be used during tournaments

Key CPA Rules Overview

  • Players must call shots in 8-Ball (ball and intended pocket)
  • Legal break required to start the game
  • Fouls result in ball-in-hand for the opponent
  • Scratch on the 8-ball results in loss of game
  • Winning the game requires legally pocketing the 8-ball

Conduct & Gameplay

  • No coaching during matches unless permitted
  • Players must maintain sportsmanship at all times
  • Disputes should be resolved using official CPA rulebook guidelines
